Perhaps some of you would like to know what we'll be doing on the bus?
First off, the students will learn some new terms known as 'Tour Talk' which is a set of code words. For those of you who would like a sample, please refer to The Tour Marm post entitled: Codes and Catch Phrases.
There will also be a couple of short talks concerning American Art; one has to do with the exhumation of a mastodon in the Hudson River Valley of New York, and the other about three friends who were proponents of preserving the beautiful, pristine 'wilderness' of New York. The paintings, explanations, interesting links, and personal asides are in : Charles Willson Peale: Renaissance Man and Kindred Spirits.
We will also be listening to historic folk music and watching a couple of movies - perhaps West Side Story and/or Mary Poppins.
